Four checks before a quote

A useful comparison records the test condition beside the number. Rated output without voltage, duty cycle or input configuration is incomplete.

Verify voltage, phase, frequency, branch-circuit protection and plug or hardwire requirements against the manual. A 120 V convenience circuit and a 230 V production circuit do not support the same output envelope.

Compare amperage and arc voltage at the stated percentage of a ten-minute reference period. High peak amperage does not indicate how long the machine can remain under load.

Confirm electrode-positive or electrode-negative operation, wire diameter, torch rating, shielding-gas path and feeder compatibility. Aluminum wire may require a spool gun or push-pull arrangement.

Record ambient temperature, enclosure exposure, extension-lead length and shielding conditions. Run a representative joint coupon, inspect fusion and bead profile, and document settings before release to production.
